Shipping Container as a Studio in Deventer
Hi Bert, you supported me for a long time in planning and executing a home studio in my shipping container. I bombarded you with questions, so I thought it would be fitting to share the final result. A while ago, I put the finishing touches on the construction and filled the space with instruments. I must say… I am EXTREMELY positively surprised! I went crazy drumming inside and had a friend drum while I listened, and all the effort has paid off: NOTHING can be heard by the neighbors! So, absolutely perfect! Guitar is barely audible outside (at a volume you wouldn’t last 15 minutes with inside), and for mixing, I cranked my monitors to an unreasonably high level, and you can only hear a minimal low-end sound outside if you stand right next to the container. The neighbors on the rooftop terrace 5 meters away from the container won’t hear a thing. So, all in all, absolutely perfect. I was a bit nervous because a lot of energy, time, and money went into it, and it’s always a bit of a surprise how well it will work in the end… But fortunately, it turned out great! The blocks under the container initially, and the entire box-in-box construction afterward. Thanks for all the help and quick responses, and if you’re ever in the area and want to take a look, feel free to stop by.

This shipping container was placed on the property to function as a studio/drum room. The container is decoupled using special materials, meaning it is elastically mounted to prevent sound vibrations from traveling through the container into the house. Additionally, the container is insulated according to professional standards. The testimonial above confirms that the project was a success.
